A Girls Twirly Skirt!

Today I have a wonderful little skirt to share with you! My lovely friend Kat of Flutter Kat  has just released her new Girls twirly skirt pattern & we were honored to get to test it for her this past week! I cant say enough about this pattern & if you have little girls to sew for I highly recommend you go & purchase it right away! I made the size 3 for Anna & it took just under a half yard of fabric & less than 45 min. from start to finish to sew! I told you need it! It will be so easy to whip up a bunch to match all those cute tops you have!

Anna was thrilled with her new skirt & yes she helped me "pick out" the fabric & proudly showed it to her daddy when he came home!=)

I love the tip from Kat on stretching out the elastic & sewing a line down the center to keep it from rolling. Genius & more professional finish as well!

Forgive the 3yr. old action shots! It is so hard to hold still you know! =)
Now head on over to Kat's  & get yourself one of these easy peasy twirly skirt patterns!

Happy sewing!! xKaren

A bag & a {giveaway}!

I am super excited to be sharing this finished bag with you all today!!

It was over a month ago when I got lucky & noticed Amanda Jeans request on IG for people to test out her new scrap happy purse pattern. I jumped at the chance & was thrilled when I received it & looked it over. It looked like the perfect bag pattern I'd been in search of!!!
One of the things I did different is use low volume strips I had already cut & leftover from my string quilt (which is still a wip). They are a bit wider than the called for ones but I think it still turned out fabulous! I also cut my batting the length of both pieces & that way I could easily quilt it as if it were one big piece. Really this bag went together so quickly I was almost shocked!
{in progress}

{meet my fabulous new bag in all her glory!!!}

{pockets in the lining & my tag plus a fun sewing tag for added charm.}

{I used so many of my favorite low volume prints in here!}

{magnetic snap closure is perfect for keeping your bag from gaping open.}

I also chose the option of using premade leather bag handles instead of making my own. This was an interesting experience & if you peek inside they are far from perfect, but I'm happy with how it turned out either way. I also have to thank Kristi  of the lovely Schnitzel & Boo for helping a girl out & sending me these gorgeous red handles!!! They are so perfect!

And Now for the EXCITING news!!!!!
Amanda has kindly offered a PDF pattern for me to give away to one of readers!
(If you cant wait & just HAVE to have the pattern right now, you can find it here.)

1. Just leave a comment on this post letting me know what you think of the bag!

2.Become a follower for a second chance! or let me know if you already are.

I'll pick the winner next wed. Oct. 16.
Good luck & happy sewing! xKaren

scrappy pumpkins

It's one of my most favorite times of the year & a few weeks ago I got a serious case of the "fall crafting bug"!! =) I just HAD to sew something Autumny!
That's when I saw a friend on IG making these adorable little pumpkin blocks & I just new what I had to make!! In a few hours I'd whipped up a bunch of these little pumpkins, using mostly scraps & bits of leftover fabrics.

After all the blocks were made I just sewed a strip in between each one & ended up with a runner almost 6ft. in length! And Boy, is it hard to photograph something this long! Any tips you could share with me?

 I decided I wanted a more natural & organic type of quilting so I went with this organic line. I am really happy with how it turned out & love the modern movement it brings to the runner!

I had the perfect basic orange dot for the binding & what better print for the back than Lizzy Houses candy corn?! you might find this hard to believe, but candy corn is definitely not a favorite fall candy of mine. I'm a chocolate girl all the way!! lol=)

I think this Heather Ross wildflower pumpkin has to be one of my favorites! Its just so cute & chubby.

I'd love to see yours if you make some of these! They are just so easy & satisfying!

Happy fall Sewing!! xxKaren
